Our bodies are simply a system of pulleys and levers. Think of it as a system of rubberbands pulled across hinges. If one rubberband is tighter than another, the joint will move in a certain way. Sometimes one band will get very tight in relation to another and the joint will move in a way that we don't want it to. That usually hurts and/or has the potential for injury.
As we go about our daily lives, we create imbalances in our bodies by the things that we do all of the time. As an example, if you have sit at a desk job, you may have noticed that your back and/or your hips hurt. Endurance athletes quite frequently get aches and pains or injuries from the motions that they do over and over again. These are usually the result of imbalances in our muscles.
I have been trained to look at the way a body moves, to analyze the tightess of the "rubberbands across the hinges." By watching the way you move, I can begin to find out which of your muscles are overtight or undertight in relationship to its partner muscles. I can then design a program of SMR, stretching, and strength training to help correct those imbalances.
